About the Course
This course redirects the focus from complex diplomatic language toward foundational fluency and accuracy. It revisits the essential building blocks of English sentence structure, tenses, and core vocabulary, while ensuring that every session enhances speaking confidence for participants in their roles at the African Union.
Who Is This Course For?
This course is designed for members who:

Use English as a second (or third) language in their daily work

Possess basic or intermediate English skills but lack fluency and grammatical accuracy

Find diplomatic or technical English challenging and often rely on formulaic phrases without full comprehension

Experience anxiety or hesitation when speaking English in meetings, presentations, or informal work settings
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Understand English with confidence in everyday workplace interactions, meetings, and public-facing situations, allowing them to respond appropriately and effectively.
- Communicate clearly and confidently in spoken English when describing your role, explaining tasks, and interacting with colleagues and visitors in professional and social contexts.
- Write clear, concise, and professional messages in English, including emails and short workplace texts, to support effective communication at work.
- Use English more accurately and confidently, with improved grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary, so that messages are clear and easy for others to understand.
Duration and Mode of delivery of the course:
The course will be facilitated twice (2) weekly for 1 hour 30 minutes per session. This course will be tutored (Face-to-Face)

Supplementary learning materials, audio-visual resources, and practice exercises will be made available to support learning.
Course Certificate
A Certificate of Completion will be issued to learners who successfully meet the attendance and assessment requirements.
